There’s something truly special about returning to a place year after year, a place that holds memories and becomes woven into the fabric of your family’s story. This beautiful family invited me to capture their annual stay at an Airbnb in Comstock, Wisconsin, but this time, it was different — it was their first visit with their sweet daughter.

As a photographer, I love sessions like these. It wasn’t about posed portraits or perfectly curated backdrops; it was about documenting the quiet, tender moments of family life. We spent the day together in the most authentic way, from cozy morning cuddles to the smell of cinnamon rolls baking in the kitchen. It was a day filled with the kind of simplicity that’s often overlooked in the rush of daily life, but those are the moments worth cherishing most.

We started the day with laughter and chatter, reflecting on the joys and challenges of motherhood. I listened as they spoke about how much life had changed since welcoming their daughter into the world. There was a sense of peace in the air, as they found their rhythm in this familiar place, now with the added joy of seeing it through their little girl’s eyes.

One of my favorite moments was watching them eat cinnamon rolls together, the kitchen filled with warmth and the smell of cinnamon. Their daughter giggled, completely mesmerized trying to grab any bites she could get from her dad. Later, we ventured outside where they relaxed in a hammock, soaked in the quietness of the woods, and spent time on the dock as the small wind provided the most relaxing surroundings.

This session was a reminder that documenting family life isn’t about perfection. It’s about capturing the everyday moments — the small but significant pieces that make up a family’s story. These memories, shared in the coziness of their beloved Airbnb, are ones they’ll hold onto forever.
