I wish I had some magic fairy dust or potion that could make our businesses grow faster, but I have a few secrets up my sleeve that are just as good if you put the work in! After all, every great thing in life is worth fighting for! It’s time to roll up those sleeves (weather its jammies or not) and get to work! Here are my 3 ways to grow your business right now!
- Outsource or Simplify. If you are a control freak when it comes to your business like myself, hear me out! As creatives, there are always going to be parts of our businesses that don’t excite us as much as others. For example, I love shooting, editing, and creating vision boards for sessions, but I don’t love taxes, keeping track of every last bit of info, or constantly having to check my emails!
I now use Honeybook to keep track of every last bit of info, a wonderful CPA for all tax related things, and email templates for all generic responses so I have more time to pour back into my clients! I encourage you to make a list of a few things you either don’t love doing in your business, or are just making things difficult. Now make a list of ways you can outsource or simplify them!
- Organize. De-cluttering your office space will also help de-clutter your mind. I find that if I take just 5 minutes at the end of the day to clean up my work space, I am ten times more productive the next morning, because there is nothing that stresses me out! Along with physically organizing a space, make sure you are mentally organizing your thoughts! Take out a piece of paper and write down every to do you have going through your mind! Once it is on paper, it doesn’t look as impossible and you won’t be worried about trying to remember it!
- Slow Down. Now, you are probably thinking, “Slow down? How can I grow my business by slowing down?” Well, what I mean by that is to slow down and take the time needed to give all your clients and big projects your best effort and the attention they need/deserve! I have found that just by taking a few extra minutes to really pour my heart out in an email response to an inquiry, that I am WAY more likely to book than I was before! That was just a small but mighty area of my business that needed improving, but can often times be over looked!
